The Most Interesting Diet and Weight Loss Discoveries of 2016

January 10, 2017 at 12:10 PM

Diet and Weight Loss DiscoveriesWeight loss discoveries are being made all the time as new studies come out about new ways to shed pounds. Some of these studies, though, have merit. Now, we’ve taken a closer look at the most interesting findings of 2016 when it comes to weight loss.

Top 2016 Discoveries about Weight Loss

Dieting improves your mood.

One of the major discoveries of the year was that dieting actually improves your mood. People sleep better, are overall happier, and also have better sex lives if they cut calories. In fact, if you’re planning on cutting down on the calories, you shouldn’t worry about feeling worse as you do so. You should expect to feel better overall.

Eating fat doesn’t necessarily promote weight gain.

You might think that eating fat would, in fact, make you fat. However, a new study that followed men and women following a high-fat Mediterranean diet rich in olive oil or nuts found that these men and women actually lost more weight and reduced their waist line more than people who just reduced their fat intake.

Plant protein may make you feel fuller than meat.

Vegetarians will love this study. Researchers discovered that plant protein may be more effective than animal protein at making you feel full. This, in turn, may help you eat less at your next meal. It’s definitely something to keep in mind when you’re on a high-protein diet.

Working out before breakfast may help you eat less.

Many studies have pointed at the fact that working out in the morning may lead to a better workout. But did you know that eating breakfast after your morning workout, rather than before, may help you consume fewer calories during the day? Researchers found that men who ate breakfast after working out rather than before were much more likely to eat less.
